What are RunnerBeam custom physical trackers?
Custom physical trackers are dedicated GPS tracking devices that you own, rather than rent. We help you design and source a fleet built around your events - your colours, your logo, and custom casings or attachments where you need them - and RunnerBeam serves as the race-tracking backbone for the whole fleet.
Because the fleet is yours, there are no booking windows, courier deadlines or availability problems on busy race weekends. You pay a small per-tracker fee for the events where the fleet is used, and nothing while it sits between races.
When should I use physical trackers instead of the athlete app?
For most events, the free RunnerBeam athlete app is all you need - athletes track themselves on their own phones with nothing to hand out or collect.
Physical trackers shine where phones aren't practical: relay formats where a baton carries the tracker, bikes and support vehicles, races where athletes don't carry phones, or events that want a uniform, branded device on every participant.
Both run on the same platform, so you can mix them freely in a single event - phones for most of the field, physical trackers where the format demands it.
How much does a custom tracker fleet cost?
It depends on the size of your fleet and how much customisation you want, so we quote each fleet individually.
You make a one-off purchase of the trackers - which you then own - and pay a small per-tracker fee for each event where the fleet is used. Connectivity, configuration and support are handled by us, and an idle fleet costs you nothing between races.
